Polish Investment Forum Successfully Held to Bolster Sino-Polish Economic And Trade Cooperation

On 26th April, 2024, the Polish Investment Forum, organized by Gladius Investment Fund and Santander Corporate & Investment Banking and co-organized by Tahota Law Firm, the General Association of Sichuan Entrepreneurs, and Chamber of Commerce in the Sichuan Tianfu New Area, was successfully held at Tahota Law Firm in Chengdu. This forum 's objective was to promote Sino-Polish economic and trade cooperation, exploring cooperation opportunities and prospects in the investment field between the two countries.


The event gathered distinguished representatives from government, business, and professional sectors, including His Excellency Jakub Kumoch, the Polish Ambassador to China; Dr. Cheng Shoutai, Chief Partner at Tahota Law Firm; Mateusz Kacprzak, Managing Partner at Gladius Investment Fund; Dr. Andrzej Juchniewicz, Head of the Foreign Trade Office at the Polish Investment and Trade Agency; Mr. Chen Qizhang, Chairman of Sinocat Environmental Technology Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Yuan Jia, Senior Consultant at Tahota Law Firm, among other key speakers. Discussions were held on Poland’s investment climate, opportunities for development, and the shared experiences in economic and trade cooperation.

 

His Excellency Jakub Kumoch, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to China, took the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between our countries to voice his aspirations at the forum. He expressed his hope for deepening Sino-Polish economic and trade collaboration, thus advancing our bilateral relations further. Highlighting Poland’s economic stability, strategic location, and investment-friendly policies, the Ambassador pinpointed sectors such as electric vehicles, electronics, renewable energy, and photovoltaic storage as harboring significant opportunities for investment.

 

Dr. Cheng Shoutai, Chief Partner of Tahota Law Firm, emphasized Poland's pivotal role as a key trade partner for China and an integral part of Europe's economic landscape. He noted that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Poland not only signifies a deeper level of trust and increased responsibilities but also paves the way for expanded development opportunities and prospects for cooperation. Dr. Cheng expressed his anticipation that the forum would serve as a fertile ground for providing valuable information to investors, fostering in-depth dialogues, and jointly pursuing new collaborative ventures.

 

Chenyu Liao, the Director of the Technology and Innovation Enterprises Service Center of the General Association of Sichuan Entrepreneurs, stated that the association is committed to fostering exchange and cooperation between Sichuan entrepreneurs and the international market. With the deepening economic and trade cooperation between China, Sichuan, and Poland, there will be new opportunities for development and collaboration for the broad community of Sichuan businesses and enterprises.

 

At the forum, Mateusz Kacprzak offered insights into the economies of Central and Eastern Europe, showcasing Poland’s steady and dynamic economic growth. He outlined the Gladius Fund’s foundations, strengths, and investment approaches, alongside its targeted industries. He highlighted Poland’s favorable investment environment, marked by a stable political scene, well-developed infrastructure, and welcoming investment policies, all contributing to significant returns and long-term gains for investors.

 

Mr. Chen Qizhang, Chairman of Sinocat Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., shared his valuable experience in starting up and growing in the Polish market. Chairman Chen highlighted Sinocat's commitment to technological innovation and the commercialization of scientific achievements, particularly noting the company's focus on the European new energy market in recent years. He also pointed out that Chinese enterprises hold two significant advantages over Polish companies: lower financing costs and a comprehensive industrial chain, which provide a competitive edge in fostering robust collaborations and expanding into the Polish market.

 

Dr. Yuan Jia, Senior Consultant at Tahota Law Firm, i offered a legal perspective on overseas investment pathways and strategies for enterprises, emphasizing the necessity of adhering to legal and regulatory approval and registration processes for foreign direct investments. Additionally, Dr. Yuan shared valuable insights from his experience with cross-border acquisitions and mergers, highlighting the critical role of professional expertise in overseas direct investments. The investors in attendance acknowledged the significance of this specialized knowledge for international business success.

 

At the forum, attendees collectively recognized Poland's role as a pivotal participant in the "Belt and Road" initiative, acting as a bridge between China and Europe, and highlighted its significant development potential and abundant cooperative opportunities. Poland’s investment demands in areas like infrastructure, green energy, and environmental protection were noted as providing vast market space and business opportunities for Chinese enterprises.

 

The successful holding of the Polish Investment Forum not only aids Sino-Polish economic and trade exchanges but will also further enhance the friendly cooperative relations between the two countries, propelling deepened investment cooperation and the joint pursuit of a more prosperous future.
